Anneimd, officialy known as the Free City of Anneimd, is a city-state nation located in southern Cinder, bordering Adraria and Khupatan to the north and the Holy Pyrannic Empire to the south. Since the Annemi revolution, the government of Anneimd is constituted in a democratic parlamentary republic, holding elections periodically to choose the members of the People's Assembly of Anneimd and voting annually to choose the Vistor ("mayor"). Anneimd is one of the oldest cities in the world, and the birth place of Mistense culture, all Mistense nations trace their lineage to the historic city.

History

Discovery and Founding

The area where Anneimd sits was once but a minor testifikan village, first discovered by bca_ during her travels on the first few days of Cinder. She was later followed that same day by Vita de Marirreguera and Magellan, the three of them founded the Town of Anneimd, Vita being the one to name it after the indigenous annemi words "Anne" (Town) and "Imd" (River). The town saw development under Vita, but bca_ and Magellan would soon depart, the former would join the Kingdom of Cauldra, the latter would voyage the unknown world in his trusty steed Donkey Xote, eventually founding the Town of Belmonte.

Pre-Tsagaan Era, The Town of Anneimd

When only Vita remained, becoming major and starting the transformation from a small town into a city, erecting the Miner's Quarters and creating a small commemorative monument in the plaza that remembered its discovery by bca_, he also began the construction of a great wall that was meant to surround the entire city, and planted the great farmlands of Anneimd. The people of Anneimd lived simple lives, Vita was a humble Annemi, and did not even posses a suit of diamond armour or a set of diamond tools, instead arguing that stone tools were good enough for him to keep working. Naturally, the town was underdeveloped by the time he left. It is to be noted that a great monument was erected by GlitchTime during this Era, it was built in Netherite Debris, and was seen as a sign of friendship coming from the Cauldran people. During this time, Anneimd was part of an common economic development group between Belmonte, Covilhã, and the aforementioned Anneimd, but it was soon disbanded after the Khanate engulfed the former two nations.

Some historical houses still remain in town from this time: the house of bca_, and the house of Chras.

The Tsagaan Wars

Inspired by the great feats of Chras during the Battle of Lavard, and in defence of his friend Magellan's realm, Vita set out in his boat through the Mondegos to fight against the Khanate. He believed in his ideology, Chrasism, the defence of the freedom of city-states against nations, the ideal of fighting wars that seemed difficult to win, even if that meant dying for it. At the battle he was captured, and little was known of him save for the diary entries that were progressively discovered afterwards. In his absence, an Ancient Council took charge of the town's administration on the 9th Dawn of the 1st Era (15/X/2023).

The Return of Vita de Marirreguera

Map of Anneimd's claims during the Noyan Era

On the 1E, Dawn 12 (06/XI/2023) Vita returns to Anneimd riding a Tsagaan steed, a donkey, he seems changed. Although still a humble Annemi, he had embraced a different way of life, he had seen the world outside and had come to tell his people about it, to show them the light of the outside world. It is know from elder councillors that he came to discuss changing the Annemi government, and after a heated debate he was appointed Noyan of Anneimd.

Tsagaan Era, The Noyan of Anneimd

During Noyan times, Anneimd's borders expanded, but the town itself didn't, and the nations surrounding it never truly recognised said borders, as no development was seen in the area. These were nuntuqs, territories meant for sheepherding and nomading, so no real infrastructure or architectural development was seen in the area. Within the town itself a few changes took place, as a small yurt was built in the main plaza, an embassy of the Tsagaan Khanate, representing its close ties to the small town, and some stone huts with hay roofs were built on the higher part of town. The Pyrannian officials approached Vita de Marirreguera about developing a train station for SouthRail, and asked for the lands south of Anneimd. Vita de Marirreguera agreed to it if the Pyrannians were to finish his project for a wall, but though accepting the proposal, they never built the wall, and instead took extra territory from Anneimd and vandalised the historical monument of Cauldro-Annemi friendship built by GlitchTime.

The Barbacenan Era, The City of Anneimd

Anneimd Church at the time of Tiagus' reform.

With the rise of Mistencism, a campaign to revitalise the old town was envisioned by Tiagus Martel, Alcaide of Barbacena. He received aproval and praise by the Noyan, who supported his endeavours to further develop and renovate the area. Never before had the town seen development like it. The historical center was expanded, a great plaza was erected, a monument to the founding fathers of the nation, a Mistensist church was built, an arena to host javaladas, a castle, the entirety of what was claimed by the town was developed into a prosperous city, full of houses and surrounded by great walls. After he left, Vita appointed Paco Franco, a Covilhan official, to overlook the city in his absence, keeping order in the newly-developed city.

The Post-Tsagaan Era, The Free City of Anneimd

Up until this point there had been ties to the Tsagaan government through their shared leadership (Vita de Marirreguera was both Khan of Tsagaan and Noyan of Anneimd), which meant that Anneimd was part of the Tsagaani sphere of influence, though this didn't mean much politically. The fact the Khanate demanded more attention from Khan Vita meant that he could not focus on the development of Anneimd, only ocassionally visiting the area when he needed to distract himself from the great problems of Central Cinder. This, in practice, meant that Anneimd remained unchanged after Tiagus' reforms were done, and no more development was seen in the area, it also meant that Paco Franco had absolute control to do as he wished, since whatever complains that were made to him seemed to never reach the Khan. It is unknown whether this was for a lack of interest by Vita or if Franco's regime managed to keep the information from reaching outside the city. What is known is that his ruthlessness ended up causing the formation of a political groups which sought to dethrone the bloody dictator.

Geography

District Map of Anneimd

The territory of the Free City is composed of the city itself and surrounding land. One river runs through the country's territory, separating the land of the city itself from most of the rest of the country. Another river forms the border with Adraria to the North-East. Most of Anneimd is flatland, with the exception of two mountains, Monsacru and L'Angliru. The east of Anneimd is forested while the east is composed mostly of plains.

Territorial Organization

Anneimd is divided into 14 districts, 4 city or metropolitan districts, 2 rural districts and 10 uninhabited districts.

  • West District (or Historical Center), with the Founder's Square, the mine, the wheat field, the West Gate, Vita's house and many historical buildings, this was the very first part of Anneimd to be settled.

Rural Districts

These districts are sparsely and only recently settled.
