The Kingdom of Istraks, is a democratic monarchy turned theocratic monarchy under the rule of her Holiness, the Crowned Prophetess of Istraks. It is located in the centre/north of Cinder.

History

The Íster Seafarers

The people of Istraks, known as the Ísters, are believed to be a tribe of technologically advanced seafarers originating from the northern reaches of Cinder. With large lung capacity and mastery of oceanic navigation, they were known for their curiosity and endurance. Íster migration southward eventually led to the founding of allied cultures like Danúvia and Sprúspolj, sparking a cultural exchange that shaped the northern continent.

Traces of ancient Íster civilizations can be found beneath modern-day Interdam and Marefort, with some scholars believing they originated from Martiverran Isles or Craymond Island.

The Martiverran Isles

Located east of Tintorini and home to the capital Interdam, the Martiverran Isles became the primary settlement of the Ísters. Under King Joachem van Munke, terraforming and agricultural development flourished. With aid from Khan Truewig of the Tsagaan Khanate, the Isles were expanded, turning Istraks into a food-producing powerhouse.

The nearby islands, once ravaged by barbarian attacks, are now shared between Istraks and Rosendaele, reflecting a commitment to peaceful diplomacy.

Founding the Kingdom

On 2nd September, Joachem van Munke declared the formation of the Kingdom of Istraks in Interdam. Despite scarce resources, the Kingdom quickly grew through trade and diplomacy, partnering with Crannoghold and the League of Syradine.

The Union & Fall of the Monarchy

Unification talks began between Istraks and Syradine in December 2023, resulting in the formation of the Republic of Ritannia. Despite cultural fears of being overtaken, both sides pursued a new shared identity. Due to Syradine’s anti-monarchist stance, a peaceful revolution in Istraks overthrew the monarchy. Munke retained only a symbolic role, while democratic governance was adopted.

The monarchy was dissolved.

Collapse & Return

Years of genocide, prejudice, and marginalization followed. Istraki culture was repressed, and lands seized. When the Republic of Ritannia collapsed, Istraki forces, under King Johannes van Munke, reclaimed lost territory and re-established the Kingdom.
