Origin
Yohn Othan's life was a vivid tapestry of daring performances and hidden scars before he became a feared pirate in the Lakes of Mondego. Born under the wandering star of a distant, unnamed village, Yohn was orphaned at a young age. His ability to contort his body into impossible shapes and balance on the thinnest of wires caught the eye of a roving circus troupe when he was just a boy. They promised him a family, adventure, and a chance to see the world. Instead, Yohn found himself entrapped in a world of exploitation and cruelty under the iron fist of Bellaric Hames, the cunning ringleader who saw Yohn’s talents as a mere tool for profit.
For years, Yohn performed under the big tops from city to city, each performance earning cheers and applause from the audience but only harsh treatment and meager rations behind the curtains. His only solace was the camaraderie with other performers, who shared his plight and often his dreams of a different life—a life of freedom, far from the clutches of Bellaric.
That life seemed an impossible dream until one fateful evening, when the circus was crossing the Sanean Ocean. A monstrous storm, as if summoned by the collective despair of its captives, struck their vessel with furious might. Amidst towering waves and howling winds, the ship succumbed to the relentless ocean, sending everything into chaos. Yohn fought for survival in the icy waters, relying on his agility and strength honed through years of performance. As dawn broke, he found himself washed ashore on the shores of what would become the nation of Arboria, alongside the few others who survived.
Wandering the lands of the West, Yohn would unknowingly squat on the island of Tebatari, before migrating to the settlement (which would become the city) of Verdania. In his travels, Yohn would come across the city of Borinu, Nauticca, where he would meet Commander Nitalia Witting. With an admiration of the dedication and perseverance of Commander Witting, Yohn would return to Nauticca to seek residence and offer his skillsets to aid the nation.
Yohn officially became a member of Nauticca on the 19th of March, 2024.
Notable Actions within Cinder
Roots of Arboria
Before it would officially declare itself a nation on the 1st of April, 2024, Yohn would fulfill much contract building for the former stateless city (now officially the Land of Arboria). Notable builds constructed by Yohn Othan would be the Verdania Community House, Verdania's barn, and the Moth's Nest Tavern. Along with being paid in valuables and building supplies, Yohn would be granted permits to build a vacation home for himself and his fiancé, Howlite, within the now bustling capital of Verdania.
Battle of Yergola
Following tense relations between several Southern nations (most notably the Silly Company, Danouvia, the Southern Tribesmen, Saristania, and a few others who had banded together to create the Southern Cinder Coalition, or SCC for short) and the former nation of Yergola, a war would be officially declared by the SCC on the 23rd of March, 2024. Yohn Othan would be contracted as a mercenary alongside his Nauticcan compatriot, Yuei Kanazaki by the SCC, to make an offensive move on the Yergolan monarchy.
On the 29th of March, 2024, the Nauticcan mercenaries would make the trek from Nauticca to Yergola to fight in the Battle of Yergola. The only things of note is that Yohn bested the Thundran official, Vinz Izon, on the battlefield, and the fighting lasted no longer than an hour. Queen Selene I of Yergola was nowhere to be seen in this conflict (coward).
Raid on Gono
On the 31st of March, 2024, Yohn Othan and his accomplice, Glitch Time, raided what they thought to be the abandoned megastructure of Gono. The duo obtained many items of value, from bountiful building supplies that would better both of their respective nations, to weapons of war with offensive and defensive purpose. Following the raid, the Republic of Ritannia would claim that Gono was under Ritannian jurisdiction, following Cauldran/Firgardian denizen, Aron the Formidable, being too yellowbelly to keep these actions private from the rest of the world.
Ritannian officials would descend upon the duo, pressuring the so-called raiders to return the items they took, or else consequential action would follow. This caused Ritannia to call out Nauticca on the world stage, with several other nations external of the incident to comment on the events, and put a rather glaring spotlight on Nauticca. While the Cauldrans were more amicable to return his items, Yohn Othan stood his ground.
Yohn Othan would challenge the Republic of Ritannia in the one court LeBron did not play well on, the court of law. To this day, there is still yet to be a trial on the matter.
