Aron the Formidable, also known as simply Aron, is a character played by player M3gavox/TheGodOfAr0n. It is his first and only character in CinderCivs as of now. His character's origins were released on the 25th of March 2024, despite the character having existed for longer. Aron was a member of the Revolutionary State of Cauldra, then leader of the Federation of Firgards, and finally a Triarch of the Crescent Union until his resignation and self-exile to Crannoghold under the alias Tycho.

He is one of two High-Priests (leaders) of the Church of Moonrise.

Life

Swastania

Roughly 5 centuries before the main events of CinderCivs, Aron was born in the now-defunct Kingdom of Swastania, located in the northeastern part of Cinder. He lived a fairly normal childhood, however Swastania was beginning to see opposition from other neighboring nations who sought to expand their influence.

Aron subsequently volunteered to join the army, and was trained with wielding most kinds of weapons. Battle after battle, his experience grew, and he eventually became one of the best warriors at the time, obtaining the title of "Formidable". He then decided to wear a mask in battle to remain anonymous, as to not be easily targeted by those who sought his demise.

Unbeknownst to the public, and to most of the Swastanian government, Aron was a willing subject of Project Rebirth, designed to preserve essential officials in the event of a normally life-ending situation.

Following a minor schism, Aron somehow ascended to the Swastanian throne, when a celestial rock struck. It was believed that the material this meteor was made of retained magical properties, and as such Aron, now king, ordered the forging of a blade made from this material, which he would end up naming the "Sword of the Moonrisen", which he uses to this day. A few months following this event, Aron met Lapis Lazuli, a being who considered themselves immortal, around 24 thousand years old. Despite his doubts, Aron took Lapis in as a squire, and after multiple crackdowns on tribal insurrectionists, the pair grew close.

Aron gifted Lapis control of a small town called Tycho, named after the alias Lapis chose to go by when in public.

A few years later, while Aron was addressing his people, a tribal mercenary shot a poisonous arrow at him, hitting his left cheek and breaking the left half of his mask, seemingly dying. It is assumed that Swastania collapsed shortly after.

Pre-Firgards

Aron woke up in continental Cinder, at first unaware of Swastania's fall. He then realized that despite Project Rebirth saving his life, its side effects forced him into a hibernation lasting around 500 years. Lost, he eventually decided to settle in the Kingdom of Cauldra, and following the events in Covilha, participated in the Revolution, which saw the ousting of King Swonki and the establishment of the revolutionary state led by Chairman Dime Drozdov.

A few months later, Aron recalled Lapis and their claims of being an immortal being, and lamented on a potential reunion, despite his near-certainty that the latter was long dead.

He partook in the Saristanian Secession War, and with his comrades successfully drove Thundra out of the city of Nortifika.

A few weeks after, he also participated in the Yergolan War, with Cauldra being part of an international coalition against Yergola's despot, Queen Selene Diane, which saw the establishment of Strawgola, replacing the old government. It is there that Aron recognized an enemy soldier to be Lapis. He then decided to look for them.

Starting his journey in Loire, he met Rupturoid (who will from now on be referred to as Rup), who apparently was told by Lapis to meet them in Tintorini. Aron, shocked by the fact that Lapis was, in fact, alive, decides to go with him to Tintorini, and they agreed to settle there until Lapis' arrival. Meanwhile, Aron began sending birds to contacts and Moonrisen followers around the world to establish a Moonrisen state in the south, which would result in the creation of Firgards.

When Lapis finally arrived with their partner, Vivia Greenthorne, Aron had a small argument with them, which quickly escalated into a duel that ended in a stalemate, with both Aron and Lapis being severely injured. Aron vowed retribution as Rup tended to his wounds.

Firgards

While Aron was heading to the Angelic Nation to finish Lapis, he was ambushed by an unknown tribesman, but successfully knocked them out. On his way, he stumbled across a Lustrous (same species as Lapis) named Sodalite (with a companion, Ametrine), who quickly attacked Aron. The fight was lengthy, but ended without injuries. Aron and Soda then had a conversation, talking about the similarities of their religions. Aron then headed back to Firgards where he and Rup tended to the tribesman's wounds. As the latter woke up, Aron spoke with him, and the tribesman introduced himself as Elios Sunset, and was then asked by Aron to build a navy.

Shortly afterwards, Lapis went to Firgards to kill their liege once and for all, and after a bloody fist fight, Aron was brutally beaten and left to die, with Rup, despite trying to stop the fight, having his jaw ripped off. Aron proceeded to pass out, and Rup, barely conscious, gave him an immortality potion, the same one he took. This immortalized Aron, and his newly acquired regeneration quickly healed his wounds. After waking up and realizing what had happened, Aron secretly made Rup a replacement mechanical jaw.

The next morning, Lapis went back to Firgards to make amends, and to ask Aron for help, as Vivia had fallen under the influence of the growing Dark Creed, and anti-Moonrisen cult. Aron then forgave Lapis, and the pair sailed to the Angelic Nation. However, a violent storm seperated the two, leaving Aron in Sanea, where he headed on foot to help Lapis. However, when he reached the AN, it was too late, Lapis had failed to save Vivia, whose new personality, "Vi Violet", restrained Aron, intending to sacrifice him in a Creedit altar. Lapis barely managed to stop Vi, and Aron is forced to abandon the mission, vowing to save Lapis one day.

Weeks later, while Aron was confronting Rup about the immortality potion, he was sent a letter by Lapis, who somehow saved both themselves and Vivia, and are currently on vacation. This inspired Aron to hunt the Creed down once and for all.

With his new status as southern High-Priest of the Church of Moonrise, he launched a crusade against the Creed, located in the Archduchy of Kothmire. With help from the Lendisti Tribe, the crusade was a success, however following a brief encounter with Aron, the Creed's leader, Manifestus, escaped.

Crescent Union

Following the transformation of Firgards and its allies Fraothno and Eshana into the Crescent Union, Aron was named a Triarch. Following the attempt on citizen Aleksy Zerzan's life by Ankh-Morpork, Aron pushed for war against the tribe, stirring backlash from the international community, however the crisis was averted when Mynhardt hosted the Pondering Pie Peace Party.

A few days later, Dagon declared war on the Union, and their invasion forced Aron into exile, appointing Elios as his successor. Aron took on the alias Tycho, the same name Lapis used in Swastania.

Exile

While sailing for Ritannia, Aron's ship, the SS Executor, was struck by lightning, causing it to sink and Aron to pass out. Waking up a few hours later, he discovered he was now in Crannoghold, and was given asylum by Chieftain Flokk Boggerson. With his remaining resources, he made himself a new, blue suit with golden plating and a matching mask to conceal his face.

There, he successfully located the Isle of Moebia, the Dark Creed's final stronghold after Kothmire's fall, and sailed there a few days later. As he made his way into the castle, he was ambushed by Moebian guards, and confronted by a mysterious figure, presumed to be Manifestus. Initially planning on executing Aron, the figure is tricked into thinking the former is a Creedite seeking knowledge, and so confines him to the dorms.
