Life
Youth
Pičkovšek was born to a middle class family residing in Scneimunt city, to a stucco-master father Frankos and a mother Amalberga. Pičkovšek also had many 7 siblings, only 2 of which would survive till adulthood. Pičkovšek was very rebellious in his youth and was from an early age opposed to the oppressive regime of Stefan I. Sagadyn. At age 14 he started working for his father Frankos, who was very strict and would often physically beat the young Pičkovšek even for the smallest mistakes. Josef and his father often had arguements as his father was a great supporter of the Grand Duke, who was also his employer meanwhile Josef was very much opposed to the monarchy. When he turned 18 his father died from a stroke and less than half a year later his mother aswell from unknown causes. This meant that Pičkovšek had to take care of 3 of his younger siblings and now struggled with taking care of his family and satisfying the demands of the court simultaneously. He grew even greater resentment towards the Grand Duke, who often did not even pay his artists despite holding them in great esteem.
