Lorien Helbrant is the reigning Imperator of Luminar and founder of The Imperial Sovereignty of Luminar, known by titles such as The Unifier of the Fractured West and Bearer of the Single Throne. A 23-year-old Arannese ruler of human descent, he stands tall with a commanding presence, wavy blonde hair, dark brown eyes, and a manner of speech and bearing that reflect his eastern Arannese origins. He governs with visible pride in his lineage and authority, often presenting himself in regal attire that reinforces his dominance and influence.

History

Early Life

Lorien’s early life was defined by silence, displacement, and observation.

He was born in Morgenadler, in eastern Aranna, during the fragile years that followed the end of the Thundran occupation. Though the war had officially concluded, its scars were everywhere. As a child, he saw broken streets that were never rebuilt, families that never returned, and veterans who carried more than physical wounds. The tension between the Arannese and Thundrans had not vanished with the signing of peace; it lingered in glances, in hushed conversations, and in the way certain names were spoken.

At the age of four, his father, Markus Helbrant, chose exile over uncertainty. The family left Aranna entirely and settled in a secluded location far from political centers and trade routes. The whereabouts of this home were known only to them. It was not a place of luxury, but it was safe. And in that safety, Lorien’s character began to take shape.

His upbringing was disciplined. Markus ensured that Lorien was educated not only in reading and writing, but in history—especially the history of Aranna and of their lineage. Stories of Leoric Helbrant, of Dagon, and of the old Arannese court were not told as legends, but as lessons. Lorien was taught that legacy was not something to boast of, but something to uphold. At the same time, living outside Aranna gave him distance. He learned to see his homeland not just through inherited pride, but through a broader lens.

The isolation of their hidden home forced him inward. He trained his body rigorously, learned survival skills, and spent long hours studying maps and accounts of distant regions. Without the distractions of court life or public expectation, he developed patience and self-reliance. Yet that same isolation stirred restlessness within him. He knew of Aranna only through memory and story. He knew of the wider continent only through ink and parchment.

By the time he reached twenty, that restlessness had grown into resolve. The sanctuary that once protected him began to feel like a boundary. Rather than inherit a life shaped solely by caution, Lorien chose to step beyond it. He left the secrecy of his family’s refuge and set out to wander the lands of Cinder, determined to see the world firsthand rather than through the echoes of the past.

Current

After three years of wandering, Lorien came upon the lands west of the ruins of Khupatan. The region was scarred by history yet untouched by strong governance. Where others saw desolation, he saw opportunity. The land was defensible, resourceful, and positioned between fractured powers that lacked unity. It was there that he chose to lay foundations rather than continue drifting.

From those first stones, Hellania was formed.

The early days were harsh. There was no inherited structure, no established nobility, no guarantee of survival. Every road, every agreement, every alliance had to be built from nothing. It was during this time that Lorien encountered a man who would become indispensable to the endeavor — Michael, an archangel. Michael did not arrive with spectacle, but with quiet certainty. Whatever his reasons for joining, his presence lent both strength and legitimacy to the fragile beginnings of Hellania. Together, they shaped the framework of what the nation would become.

As Hellania stabilized, Lorien began forming relationships across the western territories. Among the few he came to genuinely respect was Lady Libertine Duresval, leader of Luminelle. Her leadership stood in contrast to the instability surrounding much of the West. Her passing, sudden and tragic, struck Lorien personally. Yet in her final act, she altered the course of his future: in her will, she passed the majority of Luminelle’s lands to Lorien and to Hellania.

The inheritance was not simple. With it came responsibility, expectation, and scrutiny. Months later, Lorien learned that one of Luminelle’s islands had been abandoned during the transition of power. Rather than allow it to decay, he reached out to its local leader, Fleur of Elysee-Mariana. What began as coordination to restore the island gradually became partnership. The reclamation effort required patience, compromise, and shared vision. Over time, mutual respect turned into close friendship.

Through these experiences, Lorien came to a firm conclusion: the West had long suffered from fragmentation. Its nations operated in isolation, often in quiet rivalry, lacking coordination and long-term stability. Disorganization and distrust weakened them more than any external threat.

He resolved to change that.

Rather than impose unity through conquest, Lorien pursued consolidation through legitimacy and alliance. He and Fleur, now bound by shared governance and trust, chose to formalize that unity. He proposed marriage not merely as ceremony, but as a political foundation for something greater. Through their union, the western nations were merged into a single sovereign entity.

With the wedding concluded, the formation of The Imperial Sovereignty of Luminar was declared.

Career

Hellania

Founding of Hellania

After three years of wandering through Cinder, Lorien arrived at the lands west of the ruins of Khupatan. Where others saw abandoned territory and the remnants of collapse, he saw potential. The land was strategically positioned, rich in possibility, and free from entrenched powers.

He chose to settle.

The early days were unforgiving. There was no infrastructure, no noble houses to rely on, and no established authority. Every structure had to be raised from the ground. Every alliance had to be negotiated carefully. It was during this fragile beginning that Lorien met Michael — an archangel whose presence brought both strength and quiet legitimacy to the endeavor. With Michael at his side, Lorien laid the foundations of Hellania, shaping it into a disciplined and steadily growing nation.

What began as an experiment in governance soon became a stable western power.

Inheriting Luminelle

As Hellania grew, Lorien began forming connections across the West. Among the few leaders he came to respect personally was Lady Libertine Duresval of Luminelle. Her leadership stood firm in a region long defined by instability.

Her passing was sudden and deeply felt.

Shortly before her death, Lady Libertine willed the majority of Luminelle’s lands to Lorien and Hellania. The inheritance was unexpected and heavy with responsibility. It expanded his territory significantly, but it also placed him under greater scrutiny.

Months later, Lorien learned that one of Luminelle’s islands had been abandoned during the transition. Refusing to let it decay, he reached out to its acting leader, Fleur of Elysee-Mariana. Together, they began the long process of restoring the island and reintegrating it fully into Luminelle’s domain.

Through this effort, cooperation turned into trust, and trust into close friendship.

Luminar

The Wedding

During his months in the West, Lorien came to a sobering realization: the region had always suffered from fragmentation. Its nations operated independently, often distrustful of one another. Disorganization and rivalry weakened them far more than any external enemy could.

He sought a permanent solution.

Rather than pursue unity through conquest, Lorien chose consolidation through legitimacy and alliance. His partnership with Fleur had already proven effective in governance and reconstruction. A formal union would solidify that cooperation.

He proposed marriage — not as spectacle, but as foundation.

The wedding was attended by leaders and dignitaries from across the region. It symbolized more than personal union; it marked the end of western isolation.

Formation of Luminar

With the marriage of Lorien and Fleur, the political unification of the West was formalized. Hellania and Luminelle were no longer separate powers bound by treaty — they became pillars of a singular sovereign state.

Thus was formed The Imperial Sovereignty of Luminar.

What began years earlier as a wandering exile’s decision to settle in forgotten lands had evolved into the creation of an empire. Through calculated expansion, inheritance, alliance, and union, Lorien reshaped the West into a unified political force.

From the ruins of Khupatan rose Hellania.

From inheritance came Luminelle.

From union came Luminar.
