The Angelic Nation (/ænd͡ʒˈɛlɪk nˈe͡ɪʃən/), also known as the Angelic Realm and the Angelic State and known in its home language as Angelus Regnum, was a country located in the south-west lands of Cinder. It was bordered by Ashenstrand and Loire (both constituent states of the Holy Pyrannic Empire) to the west and east respectively, by the Serene City of New Cánse to the north and by the Sea of Tycho to the south. The capital and seat of government was the city of Greenthorne. Geographically, the Angelic Nation was split in twain by the Heaven's Hands river, resulting in the eastern half of the country being located on an island.
The Angelic Nation traces its origins to the origins of the Angelic race itself. It is said than ten millennia ago, the Angelic God created his children, and entrusted a young Vivia Greenthorne to lead them. After ten millennia of isolation, he made the decision to end the isolationism of the Angelic race, and thus ushered in a new age where the City of Angels interacted with other nations in Cinder. One of such neighbors was the expansionist Queendom of Yergola, then a regional power.
After a period of turmoil and regional strife, the decision was made to move the City of Angels to a new location to the west of the world. Now named the Angelic Nation, it briefly became a member state of the anti-Yergolian Stabilization of Cinder Coalition before departing. The modern Angelic Nation was founded as a result of Lapis Lazuli's arrival and marked its evolution from a small community to a fully fledged nation-state with Vivia Greenthorne and Lapis Lazuli as the heads of a diarchic government, on equal footing with the rest of Cinder. After this, the Angelic Nation was embroiled in a conflict involving the Dark Creed that resulted in its temporary co-opting. Not soon after, the Angelic Nation declared its independence from the Creed.
The modern Angelic State stands as one of Cinder's most advanced economies. The Angelic Nation, in contrast to most nations in Cinder, was a net importer of goods; it uses its wealth to obtain resources from other countries, sustituting the need to extract resources by itself. It has played and continues to play an active role in international affairs: it has signed multiple treaties and was a founder member of the Grand Army of the Southern Crowns. Following the Supreme Mission enshrined in its Charter, the Angelic Nation's foreign policy was centered on mediation and neutrality, cementing its status as a capable middle power in Cinder.
History
Politics
The Angelic Nation has strong transparency and accountability mechanisms, unheard of in most of the nations of Cinder. Owing to its small population, the Angelic Nation's political liberties are embedded into its government itself, giving residents an opinion and voice in all of the nation's doings. Its small population size means that it is unfeasible to be a representative polycracy (as are Ritannia and Sanéa) as its government configuration. However, this quality also allows residents to have a more direct voice as they do not need to employ representatives to partake in government on their behalf.
Being led by Vivia Greenthorne, whom as an angel is immortal, the Angelic Nation was one of two existent athanatocracies in Cinder, alongside the Serene City of New Cánse. This means that the normal political process of leadership change, even in monocratic (dictatorial) systems is not inevitable.
The Angelic Nation's primary accountability and transparency mechanism was the Town Council, a body that may be invoked by any Angelic citizen. In a Town Council, citizens are allowed to express any and all questions or grievances with the Leader's decisions or policy, as well as request explanations. A Town Council also has the capacity to force the Leader to rescind the policy or decision due to which it was called. This potent accountability mechanism effectively makes the Angelic Nation's government more polycratic than most other governments in Cinder.

Religion
The Angelic Nation's state religion was Angelicism. Previously, the Angelic Nation was a secular state and, for a brief period of time, its state religion was worship of the Dark Gods. Presently, the state allows worship of any and all religions, even if Angelicism takes precedence; the only exception to this was worship of the Dark Gods, which was considered treasonous and punishable by banishment.
